Drug Awareness Week
Carving Pumpkins
Brice is giving it all he's got!
We are all working on cleaning out the inside of Eli's pumpkin! Shelby gags if she smells the inside of a pumpkin. She came up with this clever nose clip.
Eli wasn't too fond of the "goo" and he almost lost his cookies. He ran to the bathroom and came back crying. He wanted to carve his own pumpkin so bad but couldn't stand the smell or touch. Our cul de sac is getting together next Wednesday for a Halloween party. We are eating together and then the kids will go trick or treating together. We have so much fun doing this. I hope it will be good weather. I will take plenty of pictures and will post them next week.

Team Sports
One of his many kicks
He said it is scary because you have to concentrate on catching the ball and then hurry and kick it when you know their are guys coming right at you. He did have one punt where someone hit him after he had kicked the ball and they received a penalty. Go Brice!!!

The Life and Times of the Thurman Kids
Eli is very excited that it was cool enough to wear his new pajamas. My mom took us shopping this week and Eli, Brice and Shelby all picked out Sponge Bob pjs. Eli is having fun watching football on tv. The other day before school I was busy getting things ready for everybody going to school and walked into our bedroom. Eli had the TV on ESPN watching sports center. I said,"What are you watching?" He said, "I love football". He and Brice have a game going in the den with a small football. One day they are going to really get hurt!
Shelby has been improving everyday with her clarinet. At first, it sounded pretty rough. I can't wait to hear her at Christmas. The band has a Christmas concert and they always surprise the parents as to how much they have improved. Shelby had a soccer game Monday night. They lost again but she played hard. We just can't get that ball to go into the net. Shelby had one shot on goal that I think was in but the ref thought otherwise. She gets her report card tomorrow. I already know that she made two B's and the rest A's. I'm so proud of her. She has worked really hard.
Brice is busy with his texting. That's all he seems to do these days. As soon as he gets done with homework he grabs that phone. We had a nice quiet night at home tonight and all I hear is that phone letting him know he has another message. We are in B'ham this weekend. Another (and the last) of the Premier League games. I'm ready to get all that behind us. I hope we will at least do better than we have been doing. I'm not asking for a win but a tie would be good. Or at least not a score of 5-0!!
I'm starting my Christmas shopping tomorrow so I will be watching these kiddos closely.

Shelby's turn
Can you see the smile on Shelby's face? She loves what she is doing!
The coach working hard at half time!
Well, I've finally gotten Shelby on my blog. She had a game on Monday. We lost 3-2 but it was an exciting game. We had lots of shots on goal but just couldn't put them in the net. Shelby had a good many saves and had a hard shot on goal but it hit the post. It was fun to finally get to watch her. She is good player but it's fun to see how much she loves playing. It's still fun for her!!

Football Game against Brandon
Brice waiting for the pass.
Brice "trying" to catch the pass.
Brice trying to catch a pass for a touchdown in overtime.
We lost to Brandon Middle School Tuesday night in overtime. It was an exciting game. Brice was upset with himself because he missed some crucial passes but the coach said he played well. Hopefully he will continue to improve. Shelby didn't have her soccer game this week. It was rained out. She has another one on Monday so I will try to post pictures of her then. Brice and I will be in Baton Rogue this weekend for soccer and Philip will be here with the other two. This has been a busy week. I think every week is busy!

Madison Central Tailgate Party
Shelby had a good time with her friends. They wandered around looking at other tailgaters. I think they were looking for food. I'm not sure Shelby or her friends knew there was a football game going on. They didn't stay in one place for very long and had to ask if we won at the end. They had a lot of fun though. I guess when you are in middle school, a football game is all a big social event.
Brice and his friends had a fun friendly football game of their own before we went to the high school game. He said he was sore after this game. I think he was enjoying being off from soccer this weekend. He invited several of his soccer buddies to come to the tailgate party. We had plenty of food and sat around and talked for awhile. The football game was really bad. I think the score was 21-3. I thought you were suppose to play someone at your homecoming game that you can beat easily. Eli said, "mom, I feel sad for the Jaguars!" I told him I think the word was embarrassed!
